Construction crews began clearing the site of the Colorado River Union High School District fieldhouse Wednesday morning. “We’ll be importing and exporting materials and then start grading for the parking lot and football field,” said Joe Call, owner of Joe Dirt Excavating, Inc. Crews began work by burning off organic matter on the site. The groundbreaking ceremony for the sports facility took place in October and construction crews have been working since on logistics and equipment set up, according to CRUHSD officials. The fieldhouse is a major part of a $35 million bond issue approved by voters last November; construction is expected to be substantially completed in January 2019.
