Creative shoppers soon will have a new place to find arts and crafts supplies.
Bullhead City Manager Toby Cotter announced Friday the arts and crafts retailer Hobby Lobby is coming to Bullhead City.
“We welcome Hobby Lobby, along with their new neighbors in the City Square Center,” Cotter said
Plans have been approved for the company to build a new store just east of Perkins Restaurant and Bakery and McDonalds near the new Smart and Final Extra and new Ashley Homestore, Cotter said. Construction on the new building is expected to begin within the next few weeks.
Several other shops and restaurants also are looking to locate to the City Square development, Cotter added. The final piece of City Square will be the redevelopment of the former Kmart building.
Founded in 1970 and based in Oklahoma City, Hobby Lobby, which is privately owned, operates more than 800 stores, employing more than 32,000 people in 47 states, according to the company’s website.
In addition to supplies for artists and crafters, the retailer offers supplies for picture framing, fabrics, wedding supplies, home accents and holiday merchandise.
“Bullhead City will continue to be the retail hub for Mohave County and southern Clark County,” Cotter said. “The city offers many new convenient shopping locations and a sales tax rate lower than Clark County and Kingman. The city also promises to be very aggressive in recruiting new retail outlets, restaurants and other new businesses to the community.”
